The Client

The Thompson Rivers University Sustainability Office works to design and implement the Campus Strategic Plan sustainability components through advocacy, communication and coordination including supporting sustainability research and cost-effective green initiatives.

The Challenge

The Thompson Rivers University Sustainability Office wanted to engage their students, faculty and staff in their sustainability campaigns, but with only a Facebook page with 100 Likes and no one really understanding what the department was about, they needed help.

The Solution

Environment and Sustainability projects are one of our true passions so it was an exciting project for us to take on. After surveying the campus we developed a social media strategy focusing on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We focused on creating hyper-local and student-oriented content with fun videos, graphics and interactive content.

Results

The TRUOES department has gained exposure across the campus, running successful social media campaigns which engaged students. It ran two Sustainability Grant Fund Projects issuing over $100,000 to successful students for their ideas and has been recognized across the province for their efforts.
